Timber residential building for asylum seekers

In its external design with mansards, the new residential building for asylum seekers adopts the characteristic local architectural style and blends in well with the neighbourhood. 

The load-bearing interior walls and the mansard roof of the simple five-storey building were constructed using the classic frame construction method. The floors are constructed of wood-concrete composite and the deep beams in the attic storey are made of cross-laminated timber. The use of simple, low-cost materials is just as much a part of the concept as the flexible division of space. Depending on requirements, the bathrooms or kitchenettes can be connected to individual rooms or groups of rooms. 

The ground floor houses storage rooms, common and play rooms, the office/reception and wet rooms. A total of 26 rooms, communal kitchens and wet rooms are distributed over the three floors above and the attic storey.
