Sustainable single-court sports hall as a temporary solution for Uetikon cantonal school

Until the planned new Uetikon am See cantonal school is completed, school operations will take place in the temporary school building on the Rossweid site. In 2022, as general contractor, we added a single sports hall with ancillary rooms in modular timber and timber element construction to the pop-up grammar school, which we completed in 2018.

In keeping with the temporary nature of the sports hall, the façade of the sports hall is clad with transparent corrugated fibreglass panels. In addition, the hall architecture - designed by pool Architekten - shows the vertical structure of the timber construction as the primary visual feature. The interior construction consists of timber panelling and visible CLT cross-laminated timber. The timber construction made of modules and elements fulfils the requirements in terms of accessibility and safety as well as sustainability and cost-effectiveness thanks to its reusability.

The temporary sports hall fulfils the Minergie-A-ECO standard and is to be used at its first location in Uetikon for around eight years. It is planned that the structure will be rebuilt at least twice at a different location.
