Temporary Migros shop: long-lasting construction for interim use

Migros contracted Blumer Lehmann to build a two-storey temporary building with a floor area of 63 by 18 m in the centre of Amriswil for use as a temporary shop. The sustainable characteristics of this temporary solution with re-usable modules was a point of emphasis for the commissioning party Migros. The temporary Migros branch was fully equipped with retail space, a take-away, kiosk and warehouse.

After preproduction of the individual components and modules, the shell was built for the Migros temporary store at our plant in a single day. Construction work on the facade and the interior design took just under three months on site. The high degree of prefabrication was tailored to the later use of the modules. They received the appropriate technical installations, surfaces and connections depending on whether they were used as a cold store or sales room in the temporary store.

The temporary building proved to be advantageous for the provisional Migros shop not only in terms of re-usability. Its flexibility also makes it stand out: the two-storey commercial space is sub-divided flexibly into various sales and storage areas.
