Luxury hideaway in Val Lumnezia

In Val Lumnezia in the canton of Graubünden, a jewel of a hideaway has been created. The conversion of this former guesthouse into an exclusive hotel with restaurant and spa is a fusion of old and new, traditional craftsmanship and a modern Free Form timber construction.

The existing art nouveau Casa Mundaun building, a defining feature of the landscape, forms part of the new guesthouse and was renovated from the ground up. What really catches the eye is the larch shingle facade, which replicates the original and remains in line with heritage protection requirements. Materials sourced from the local area were used to renovate the building with its picturesque tower. Local stone was used in combination with spruce and fir wood.

The Free Form annexe, executed using the latest in timber construction technology, is an elegant addition to the existing building and includes a restaurant. Despite its modern design, this extension ties in seamlessly with the existing building and the Alpine valley surrounding it. We were responsible for renovating the existing building and for the planning, production and assembly of the Free Form timber construction.

With the completed conversion at Lampart's Val Lumnezia, guests and hosts alike will be able to make use of five hotel suites with 17 beds, a conference room, gym and relaxation space as well as an inviting fireside lounge. The extension building houses the Dining Dome’s new open kitchen and a spa.

Lukas Osterwalder from Blumer-Lehmann AG was responsible for the execution architecture of the free-form extension, the timber construction and conversion planning and its implementation. The interior design was created by Mike Federer from Zurich.
