Together with planning partners at Bauart Architekten und Planer, Blumer Lehmann won the general contractor competition to construct the modular school building as an extension to the Fuchshofschule in Schorndorf in the same style as the five existing pavilions. As full-service contractor, we are responsible for all construction services such as planning, production and assembly. Manufacturing is carried out entirely at our production facility in Grossenlüder.
he existing Fuchshofschule buildings – Variel pavilions by Swiss architect Fritz Stucky – date back to 1963 and became protected cultural heritage sites in 2018. The five iconic pavilions also served as a template for the appearance of the new modular school building. This can be seen in the slender vertical facade design.
A timber construction method for the building was stipulated from the start, because it presents not only the highest possible level of sustainability and carbon storage but also a good embodied carbon footprint. In addition, the two-storey modular timber structure is built to a high standard to allow it to be used flexibly and for a long time. Alongside the music and multipurpose room, spaces for on-site childcare plus a kitchen, dining hall, toilets and utility rooms on the ground floor, while the upper floor is home to the common area and learning zone as well as classrooms and side rooms. Depending on what is needed, the school building will be easy to extend, adapt or move at any time.
