The former storage hall with its floor area of over 9,000 square meters provides extensive new living space following its renovation. We were particularly dedicated to the revitalisation of the ageing timber construction. The Blumer Lehmann project team renovated the timber construction and the roof of the historic building, built in 1871, and installed the shell of the loft apartments and the southern facade.
38 short-term rental apartments, 12 lofts, six holiday apartments, a restaurant, ballroom and exhibition space have now found a home in the newly renovated granary. Our planning specialists mapped the building’s interior and exterior using 3D scanners to create a common groundwork for the project planning of all the trades and for the timber construction production data.
We built the shell of the apartments and lofts in the upper and top floors in a wood element construction and according to preservation requirements. This sometimes required extraordinary solutions, such as the construction of a platform at a dizzying height. This allowed us to lift the prefabricated elements and then place them in the building on the site. As part of the conversion work, a new leafy courtyard was created in the building complex. All the floors were structurally secured and the exposed historical roof truss and gallery level were fitted out.
