The new gritting facility for winter road maintenance in Vienna consists of two round wooden salt silos with a volume of 500m3 each, a weighing system with electronic display and three orange brine storage tanks with a capacity of 45m3 each.
The brine generator has a record-breaking capacity of 15,000 litres of solution per hour, at peak times even up to 22,000 litres. This is about four times as much as a standard brine generator.
On the large urban area of Vienna, vehicles can be filled up at four extraction points and residual brine can be returned to the respective tanks.
