Uitikon maintenance depot
This joint project between BL Silobau AG and Blumer-Lehmann AG in Uitikon in the canton of Zurich is proof that a maintenance depot can also catch the eye. Together, the two specialists created a star-shaped timber construction comprising:
- Built-in road salt silo
- Cold and warm warehouse
- Washing hall
- Open hall
- Two-storey operations building.
- Clear idea of architecture and structure
The architecture and structure of the building were already described in a comprehensive listing when the contact was awarded. This also included the plans of S2 Stucky Schneebeli Architekten’s planning team to clad the building and silo fully in a rough-cut rhomboid panelling in larch wood and to equip the silo construction with a timber substructure. It was not clear from the outset that the maintenance depot should be a joint project between BL Silobau and Blumer-Lehmann AG. In hindsight, however, it seems logical. This allowed the planning team and the client to benefit from our significant internal expertise in timber construction and rapid channels of communication. The facility was inaugurated in September 2018.
