Construction starts on temporary theatre in St.Gallen
Temporary theatre made of wood
Construction work on the temporary theatre in Unterer Brühl commenced in mid-March. The timber construction in front of the concert hall will provide space for 500 spectators and will be used for around two seasons. Blumer Lehmann is delivering the construction as full-service general contractor.
Named ‘UM!BAU’, the temporary structure will be 50 m long and 26 m wide. The spruce and fir elements are being prefabricated at our plant. A total of 350 m3 of wood will be used. The roof and facades will be clad with section sheet.
The temporary theatre construction is expected to be ready for occupation by mid-September 2020, and will include a stage, orchestra pit, foyer, gallery, storage area and recreation room for artists. The timber construction work will take a total of 14 weeks from mid-April until the end of July 2020.
