Construction to start on Appenzeller Bahnen’s new administration and operations building
Blumer Lehmann is the full-service contractor for the construction of the new administration and operations building for Appenzeller Bahnen and Regiobus in Herisau. Architectural studio K&L Architekten AG designed the five-storey building, which is primarily planned as a timber construction. Work is due to start in April 2023 and will take around two and a half years. Commissioning is scheduled for August 2025.
Appenzeller Bahnen intends to accommodate its administration and employees in a new building in Herisau from August 2025. Administration will move into the first floor. The Appenzeller Bahnen operations centre and the operational management of Schweizerische Südostbahn AG will be located on the second floor. The garage on the ground floor offers space for ten buses and can be extended if necessary. The proximity to the railway station and the integration of the three public transport companies will create synergies in operational management.
